we spent the evening with friends from rei: mike, sarah, lisa, and her daughter katie. fun was had by all!

two thoughts materialized:
first:

lise and i went to see the nutcracker for the first time 2 christmases ago. got all snazzy & dressed up, took off for Music Hall in cincinnati, got there and realized two important things:
- the upper level has the worst seats and the worst view
- we don't care for ballet
so we had our fun, fought sleep from intermission onward, and promised each other that we'd never go to see the nutcracker ever again.
i thought it was going to be boring as all get out...but i was sort of intrigued by the title. that kept me wide awake!
