there has been a weather advisory out the past few days, saying there will be a few inches of snow (and yes, i said snow) above 4000 feet. snow in september?...we've got to check this out.
so we loaded up the car with coats, hats and gloves to go see this winter wonderland atop mt. rainier. we came upon many beautiful fall landscapes along the way. take a look:
how has life gotten so complicated?
just wait 'til spring... then you'll see it!
winter is quickly wrapping us with it's fluffy white blanket.
seemed to look like it was on fire. we couldn't help but sing dave wolfenberger's version of 'fire on the mountain'
the path with packs and skis strapped to their backs.
to enjoy some early season back country skiing.
it's september people!
for dinner on the way out. about a mile from the entrance of
mt. rainier np, the copper creek inn won our hearts over as one of our
favorite local eateries. they use local ingredients for their food,
serve local wines, and don't forget about the blackberry vinaigrette
salad dressing!

i'm enjoying reading about your adventures north. i may have posted or mentioned somewhere on your blog that lise and i moved to pensacola, fl. 2 months ago for something different / challenging / breaking out of the same-old / etc.
i've been blogging and putting pictures up @ www.rustypants.net - stop over and say hey.
while you're dealing with snow, we've had a wonderful week of mid-80-90's and nice cool evenings. the semi-tropical weather is still taking some getting used to and i have to admit that i was SHOCKED when i realized it was october and we were still hitting the 90's - cincinnati it ain't.
one more thing: the minute i saw the title of this post, the grateful dead began playing in my head - nevermind that i've got iron & wine playing on the ipod, jerry garcia has taken over and i'm now scrolling through looking for the Dead Set album...
that's awesome to hear that we aren't the only crazy ones!
i'll stop by and read up on florida.
'fire on the mountain...' if you ever get the chance to hear cincinnati favorite david wolfenberger sing this cover...take it!
Guys,
We have those signs here in Florida, they just say "Hurricane, evacuation route"
